Ardmore Armistice Air Day

Ardmore Airfield arranged a Amistice Air Day on the 18th November to commemorate the 100 yrs of the end of WW1.

The star attractions were the First public view of the renovated Mosquito and P.39 Air Cobra for Texan Billionaire Rob Lewis in USA.

So departing Tauranga on board Cessna172 ZK-TAI with Russ Borman as Captain ,myself as co-pilot and Peter Mole as our passenger !!! we flew to Ardmore via a scenic view of Auckland before landing and enjoying the day ahead.

Carrying on with my project in re-painting Puffer Cozy ZK-COZ at Russel Bowman,s dwelling.
I have now managed to prime the Fuselage and various panels prior to prep and re-paint into Gloss yellow.

VH-KMY TB20 visits Tauranga

Last Wednesday evening,Aussie SocataTB20 Trinidad VH-KMY arrived early evening via Auckland Int into Tauranga and parked up adjacent to the Sunair hangars and was still present yesterday.

Parked up adjacent to Sunair Hangar is Australian Socata TB20 Trinidad VH-KMY

Next to the Aussie were 2 Sunair Piper PA23 Azrtec ZK-TDM and ZK-DIR

Raglan-Black Sands weekend Fly-in

Waikato Thames Valley Chapter of Sport Aircraft Association of NZ held their  annual Raglan -Black Sands fly-in from 2-4th November 2018 at the Raglan airstrip with thanks go to Bruce Cooke who organized everything to make it run smoothly .

However ,Mother nature had very different ideas and despite a nice sunny day on Friday 2nd Nov,Saturday and Sunday where a wash out as well as strong gusts of wind which deterred  95% of visiting aircraft to the event.

So a big thanks to the 5% of aircraft that arrived on Friday and 2 that made it on Sunday

Landing into Raglan on Sunday with sunshine but gusty conditions was Hawera Aero club Cessna 172 ZK-EOS

Departing back to its private strip near  Otrahanga on Sunday  was Hansen Deuce ZK-JFH.

 

The lovely Cessna 170  ZK-OCC which arrived late on Friday ,seen here about to depart back to its home fiels at New Plymouth on Sunday.

Braving the conditions on Saturday was  Sling LSA UL ZK-SLG up from Kaipara Flats airfield .

Couple of visitors over the weekend at Tauranga

Dispite excellent weather,not many visitors dropped into Tauranga over Labor weekend but here are a few to savoir

Auckland Int based Pacific Jets owner Falcon 2000 ZK-OCB  landed for around 30 mins before departing from/To Auckland

Piper PA22 Colt  ZK-FJD parked outside Solo wings from Wanganui.

Cessna180 ZK-BDB stayed over the weekend from a private strip near Ardmore

Ardmore based ZK-THB Cessna 172 S

A nice visitor from far away Invercargill at the lower South Island is Southern Wings PA28-181 Archer ZK-EBQ.

Also another rare visitor to TRG is this latest built Titan T-51 Mustang  ZK-LSD from Wanganui and was parked up Friday and Saturday outside Solowings Eng hangar with TRG Based ZK-PWL B350 next to it.
