A weekend trip to Taildraggers flyin at Waipukarau Airfield

Fingers were crossing for  a sunny weekend and wasn't dissapointed,so departing on the 4th September for hastings ,I headed south east to Hawkes bay region and planned to drop into Rotorua,Taupo,Napier,Hastings-bridge Pa and finally end up at Waipukarau airfield on the 5th September for the Taildraggers flyin So first Rotorua

.As usual nothing of note.Just DHC-1 Beaver ZK-AMA parked outside the flying club.

1 hour later I arrived at a more lively Taupo Airfield and various helicopters were visible.              Robinson R-44,s  ZK-HGX,HFG,ICP and HCO .                                                                                             AS350  ZK-IAE,HBW,followed by 3 Enstroms in the Maintenance hangar with ZK-HRJ and 2 un-marked in the hangar.

Next stop Napier, and at last managed to see the DC-3 ZK-JGB parked up and outside Skyline Aviation was Beech 200,s ZK-WPN,SDH along with Beech400 NXJ and Cessna 510 VXM.

Last stop on the 4th was Hastings-bridge pa, were there were a few new residents on show that i havent seen before with Highlights be Stearmen ZK-STM,C420 SVQ,and C180 RJH.

The 5th was 45 minute drive to Waipukarau airfield in central Hawkes Bay and on my first visit ever there was resulting in noting the majority of residents there as well as over 30 + visitors for the Tail draggers fly-in and spot landing competition.A big thank you to Ron Day in allowing me to enter his hangar and being able to photo his collection of aircraft with prize Piper J-2 UL ZK-AGD on show.
