Plane crash incident at Tauranga

Yesterday Tuesday 10th March, Tiger Moth ZK-BMY had a incident upon landing on 07 Grass R/W.ZK-BMY was landing behind DH60 Gipsy Moth ZK-ADT after a weekend away at the Tiger Moth fly-in at Kaikohe airfield in the Bay of Islands.

Unfortunately ZK-BMY seemed to wobble upon landing and the left-wing scraped the ground  and when coming to a stop the nose dropped forward and smashed the Propeller.

Thankfully, the pilot was unhurt and the aircraft was towed away to a hangar from the emergency services on the airfield.

Hopefully,Mr J. Pheasant can fix the Tiger Moth as he is a magician on Tigers !!!!!

Saw it happen too, pretty scary to watch, I thought they might flip at one point. I'm not sure if they didn't have enough room to stop behind the Gipsy and took evasive action or if something went wrong with the throttle. From my angle they seemed to accelerate but that might have just been the sudden turn. Glad they are OK. As beautiful as the Tiger Moth is, I prefer aircraft with brakes. :-)
